History of Sanctuary
The Escape.
The history of Sanctuary is the history of the Allenkari. The Allenkari were the **** species of their home World before the Slurgoth arrived. A technically and magically advanced culture, they put up a hell of a fight... but they were always destined to fail.
The death of so many of his people awoke their dormant God, Ashurah. Seeing his people destroyed, he wept. One by one the cities of the Allenaki fell, until all but a few hundred survivers remained. These few hundred fled to a secret underground Starbase, and boarded an experimental techno-wizard space plane. Little did the survivers know that their God was with them... he had assumed the form of an Allenakari child and snuck aboard the craft. Using his powers, he was able to ensure that the ship escaped the Spurgoth, as it headed into deep space.
The Allenkari soon faced another dilema, where to to go. They decided that they would have to go as far from the Slurgoth as possible, so they set course to a far off distant galaxy, putting their people into a form a statis for the duration of a journey that would take many thousands of year.
Ashurah did not sleep however. He had heard how his people pleeded with him to help them, and how they fled now thinking that he had abandoned them... Ashurah felt for his people, and not just because his existence relied on their survival. As the craft sped through space, Ashurah searched for a place to bring his people... a Sanctuary for them to stop and rebuild their once proud civilisation.
The Dicovery
It was a thousand years into the journey, a thousand years of searching, before Ashurah came across an abberation... a small pocket dimention which radiated an unusual type of power... by this time Ashurah and the craft had assimilated, so that it had become an extension of himself. He willed the craft to the dimension as was immediatelt struck by the power of the magical forces that surged wildly about the dimension. The ship was bombarded by the the raging magical storm, and it took all of Ashurahs power to preserve both himself and his people.
Once the storm was conquered, Ashurah found himself infuse with it's power. The forst thing he did then was was seal the dimension off from the outside world, and then he began to grow... duplicating the technologies of the ship, Ashurah created an entire city within the dimension, while the magical storm raged around him. But this time, the power of the storm was his to control.
When he was done, Ashurah woke his people. The child they had met before their slumber now stood before them a man. He introduced himself and his people to their new home... their sanctuary from the ravages of the outside world. His people were now safe, and Sanctuary was beyond the reach of any enemy.
Sanctuary.
Years passed, and in peace did the Allenkari grew in numbers. But their peaceful life was unforfilling. Ashurahs powers allowed him to duplicate what had been on the craft, including some of the food stuffs bought along on the trip. But Ashurahs powers were limited, and he was unable to duplicate organic matter, meaning only sythetic food stuffs were avalible to his people.
Eventually, some of his people came to him requesting to be free of sanctuary. This troubled Ashurah. For sixty days he contemplated their request, and eventually he relented.
The group left Sanctuary, and never were heard of again.
Soon, more were to leave... most never returned, but those who did told tales of wonder and despair, for the Slurgoth had conquered a number of worlds, and enslaved a number of populations. The elders of the Allenkari, most of them having seen their own civilization fall, came once again to Ashurah. The Allenkari could no longer sit by idley as the Spurgoth conquered World after World. They had a plan, and upon hearing their request, Ashurah nodded. He knew what they had come to ask, and he was pleased. He agreed, and Sanctuary returned to the Megaverse.
The Plan.
The Allenkari know that in a direct confrontation, they would be destroyed by the Splurgoth, so they hyave no intention of attacking them directly. Instead, using the wealth that Santuary generates for them, the Allenkari fund missions to hinder and hurt the Splurgoths cause, and provide aid to those who would do battle with them. They are carefull though, and those receiving their aid never know where it is coming from. In fact, those that come to their aid never know that they were sent by the Allenkari!
To ensure this, the Allenkari use agents to go out and run these missions. These agents are often commissioned by other agents, who do not know who their employers are. In fact, there is but one non-Allenkari who knows the source of the funding, and he is paid a hell of a lot for his silence!
